Seize the opportunity and dare to open up - "the Belt and Road" high-quality development forum, focus on new development journey, and help enterprises "go global"

On June 3th, the 2nd “Belt and Road” high-quality development forum for China's concrete and cement products industry was successfully held at 403 Nanjing World's Fair Conference Center. Guests gathered in the venue, friends full, experts and scholars from high-level direction, the industry to teach points, participants came with hope, full of harvest.

The three-year epidemic situation has brought heavy blow and challenge to the international exchange and business of our country's concrete and cement products industry. At present, the epidemic situation has entered a new stage and normal international exchange activities have gradually resumed. At such an important juncture, it is imperative to seize the opportunity and take the opportunity to explore and create a new international development situation of China's concrete and cement products industry. The China Association of concrete and cement products has a mission to actively promote the high-quality development of "Belt and Road" and help enterprises "Go global", this was followed by the second "Belt and Road" high-quality development forum for the Chinese concrete and cement products industry, which aims to provide a platform for colleagues in the industry to exchange ideas and discuss business, discuss and build a new journey of high-quality development of the industry.

This forum is chaired by Huang Ling, Director of the Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Department of the China Concrete and Cement Products Association. Xu Yongmo, Honorary President of the China Concrete and Cement Products Association, delivered an opening speech to the forum. Overseas development is a place where people are unfamiliar and risks are everywhere. However, the spirit of Chinese entrepreneurs who dare to take responsibility, innovate, and be the first to eat crabs has gradually formed the awareness and thinking of overseas development in the industry, and the overseas market is gradually opening up. Our enterprises, especially cement enterprises, not only have a foothold, but also have successfully expanded the downstream concrete and cement product markets, which has inspired many latecomers. He stressed that at present, the domestic market is overcapacity and "involution" is serious, so it is an inevitable trend to go out and explore the blue ocean of the market. And unlike the "acclimatization" of advanced technologies in developed countries, China's technology and equipment level is often more in line with the development level of countries along the "the Belt and Road", and in the process of going out, it is more "tailored to local conditions". President Xu stated that China has accumulated a lot of experience in the more than 40 years of reform and opening up development, such as industrial chain integration, industrial park ization, localization, etc. This has also provided familiar industrial policies and business paths for Chinese enterprises to go global. He hopes that through this forum, participants can learn more experience cases, whether successful or unsuccessful, which are beneficial.

The theme of this forum is "seize the opportunity and dare to open up a new journey of high-quality 'the Belt and Road' development". Tian Bin, director of the Industrial Economy Research Institute of the International Economic and Technological Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Nie Xudong, vice president of Jianhua Building Materials Group, Liu Linjie, vice director of the Marketing Department of Wuhan Building Materials Institute, and Mr. Saint-Gobain, general manager of chemical building materials in North Asia were invited to the forum Simon Fourniaua, Mr. Wu Di, Representative of the Bangladesh China Business and Industry Association in China Mohammad Saiyedul Islam, Global Managing Partner of McKinsey China Tang Hongke, Head of International Business Unit of Jianhua Building Materials Group Gao Xiang, and Director of Investment Promotion Service Department of Jiangsu Overseas Cooperative Investment Co., Ltd. Miao Fei, together with seven experts and leaders, attended the forum and brought profound report sharing, receiving frequent applause from the on-site audience.

Director Tian Bin issued a keynote report entitled "National strategic thinking and relevant policies for jointly building green development along the the Belt and Road". In his report, he pointed out that the "the Belt and Road" has developed for ten years and achieved remarkable construction results. The road of China's production power is moving forward rapidly in twists and turns, and it is difficult to transform in the expansion. In the new development stage, green development has become the development direction of China and countries along the the Belt and Road. China has made a series of efforts to promote green development, issued multiple policy support documents, and established green development partnerships with 31 countries to help China's green technology and equipment go global. He stressed that the core strategy of green development of the "the Belt and Road" is to "know, understand and use policies". In the new decade, we should always adhere to the concept of "high-quality development as the keynote, peripheral diplomacy as the main axis, industrial cooperation as the focus, and green cooperation as the background", firmly grasp new opportunities, go out and go in with high quality, play the "green out to sea" card, and serve the diplomacy of major countries.

Mr. Mohammad Saiyedul Islam has brought us a wonderful report titled "Building Opportunities to Enter the Infrastructure and Real Estate Market in Bangladesh in the Post Epidemic Era". In his report, he provided participants with a detailed introduction to the current development status, relevant data, market demand, and entry opportunities of the real estate industry in Bangladesh, as well as related industries such as construction, concrete, and cement products. He stated that the current urbanization development in Bangladesh is in full swing, with a high demand for residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects, especially small and medium-sized apartments. The government attaches great importance to the concept of green development, has introduced a series of tax reduction and favorable policies, optimized the level of service enterprises, established a sound legal protection system, and encouraged and expected more high-quality domestic and foreign enterprises to visit beautiful natural environments Bangladesh, with a harmonious business environment, participates and invests.

Minister Liu Linjie introduced in a report titled "The Road to International Operation of Wuhan Building Materials Institute: Crossing the Ocean, 'Green' as the Boat" that Wuhan Building Materials Institute has been deeply cultivating the calcium silicate board/fiber cement board industry for more than 40 years, and "green and low-carbon" is a consistent concept of the enterprise. Now, the "the Belt and Road" is booming, and the industrial chain and supply chain of cement products have great development potential. Wuhan Building Materials Institute will continue to act, make efforts from innovative technology research and development, improve international vision, improve engineering service quality, actively respond to the call for green development, focus on the layout of the international market, and create new achievements for China Building Materials Group in overseas markets.

Mr. Simon Fourniau also brought us wonderful sharing. His report was entitled "Experience and actual combat sharing of Saint-Gobain chemical building materials in countries and regions along the the Belt and Road". He said that Saint-Gobain had many contacts with Chinese companies in the CHRYSO project in Sri Lanka in 2014, which also made them deeply realize that Chinese companies are more efficient. He believes that a country's political stability, cultural attributes, legal protection capabilities, and corporate risk management capabilities all directly or indirectly affect the local business environment and foreign investment willingness. He stressed that the goal of "3060 double carbon" is irreversible, and Saint-Gobain will make every effort to move towards sustainable development in the future. Trust is very important in multilateral cooperation, and the ability to establish mutual trust with partners directly determines the success of investment.

Manager Gao Xiang shared a wonderful report titled "The Road to Overseas Development of Jianhua Building Materials: Singing the Chinese 'Jianhua Building Materials' Brand in Overseas Markets". He mentioned that, In the international market of the "the Belt and Road", Jianhua Building Materials has always adhered to the path of green development, committed to building resource conserving and environment-friendly green products, and providing green and low-carbon solutions for engineering construction. He said that Jianhua's "the Belt and Road" is a road of excellence to provide global customers with the same high standard goods and services. Since its first successful attempt in Northern Vietnam in 2010, Jianhua Building Materials has been deeply cultivating the overseas market for more than ten years, honing its original aspiration, striving for excellence, and has made significant progress along the way. In the future, Jianhua Building Materials will continue to increase its internationalization process and move towards a deeper blue ocean along the "the Belt and Road".

Minister Miao Fei delivered a keynote report titled "Prospects for Investment and Cooperation in the China Arab Emirates (UAE) Production Capacity Cooperation Demonstration Park". He introduced that the China Arab Emirates (UAE) Production Capacity Cooperation Demonstration Park is one of the major cooperation projects between China and the UAE, which is led by the National Development and Reform Commission in Jiangsu Province. The mission and significance of the project lies in implementing the important consensus of the leaders of China and Argentina, responding to the "the Belt and Road" initiative, deepening the cooperation in production capacity between the two countries, boosting the sustainable development of industries and investment between the two countries, and striving to build a demonstration highland for win-win cooperation between China and the Gulf region "the Belt and Road". The United Arab Emirates is currently politically and economically stable, with a superior geographical location, developed infrastructure, good social security, a relaxed business environment, a sound legal system, and outstanding advantages. It is one of the most attractive countries for investment in the Middle East region. He expressed the hope that the association will leverage its resource advantages to promote building materials enterprises with the intention of developing overseas, especially in the Middle East region, and utilize the advantages of the demonstration park platform to better serve enterprises in "going global".

In the report on "Opportunities and Challenges for Globalization of Chinese Enterprises", Director Tang Hongke provided an outlook on the current global trends in the infrastructure industry and elaborated on the opportunities and challenges of globalization of Chinese enterprises. He pointed out that the new industrial building model in the future is a more standardized, modular and sustainable construction process. Through automation, digitization and other measures, the sustainable construction of green buildings can be achieved. Construction enterprises shoulder the task of reducing the Carbon footprint in the construction process, and industry leaders are taking positive measures to respond. Currently, Southeast Asia is becoming an increasingly popular destination for China's outward direct investment. Chinese enterprises need to make efforts in terms of intangible assets, local layout, organizational collaboration, and other aspects to globalize. Measures such as scanning overseas markets, establishing merger and acquisition capabilities, expanding growth engines, accelerating organizational growth, and conducting on-site inspections should be taken to broaden the scope of globalization.

The reports of the seven keynote speakers each have their own focuses and strengths. They deeply analyzed the prospects and directions of the "going global" concrete and cement product industry from policy, market, and economic perspectives, providing guidance and confidence for enterprises with the intention of developing overseas markets. After the exciting report session, the association also arranged interactive exchanges, and the on-site representatives actively asked questions. During the Q&A process, they collided with each other's thinking, stimulated inspiration, and learned from each other, enhancing confidence in "going out" and strengthening their belief in "going out".

At the end of the forum, Li Zhiling, director of the International Cooperation Center of China Concrete and Cement Products Association, solemnly announced the eight enterprises and recommended projects selected in the "the Belt and Road" Recommended Catalogue of Key Products, Equipment and Technical Services in 2023, and issued certificates to them. Member enterprises are welcome to continue to actively apply for the 2024 CCPA the Belt and Road Recommendation Catalog next year.
